Disco Domino Quilt

When I opened up this quilt top, I gasped. The fussy cutting, the pops of colour, the striped sashing, it was perfection. One of my favourite things about quilting other people’s quilts is getting the chance to really admire their work and design choices while I work away.

Given the strong geometric lines in the quilt and the whimsical feel of the finished top, we opted to use Patricia Ritter’s Happy Pantograph in a gorgeous blue Aurifil thread (colour 5006). I love how these swirls mimic the motifs in the Linework fabric.

I increased the scale of the design to keep the swirls loose and full of delicious movement. By opting for a larger scale and by sticking with an edge to edge design, the quilting fades into the background and lets this incredible piecing get the attention it deserves.

The finished result is absolute perfection.
